An Eye For An Eye

10 seconds into this vid is all you need to know about the base:
Clapping and cheering for killing people and a tough-talking cowboy Governor who loses no sleep about those he puts to death and the fact that maybe they're innocent, because of Texas' "thoughtful" process of capital punishment.

Oh wait...what about this guy?

Bob 1:16 PM

He also likes to kill the retarded. I guess it saves money on group homes.

Oh man, this is so wide open for a billion jokes about who better not come to Texas.

Like certain far-northern former-mayors.

That was disconcerting. Most of the people I know that are ok with the death penalty were bothered by the reaction. I just don't see that as something to cheer about.

Perry's comments about Social Security were also stupid. I think if Perry were to get the nomination, he would have a hard time getting moderates and independents to vote for him (there is no way I would vote for him). IMO, Obama has a better chance against him then he would against Romney.

What you see in that video is a reflection of the crowds who once lynched blacks (among others), knowing they were guilty no matter what the facts said.

This is a glimpse into a mindset of a group who are so convinced of the righteousness of their own cause, that they have no time to reflect on who they kill as they seek 'justice'.

You can see the same thoughts in the song by Toby Keith, 'Beer for my horses'

Take all the rope in Texas
Find a tall oak tree, round up all of them bad boys
Hang them high in the street for all the people to see

I, as you can imagine, am not a supporter of capital punishment, especially when done in such a caviler manner.

Bob 9:12 AM

How do you encourage a few states to succeed?

Streak 9:28 PM

Monk, I had the exact same thought. This crowd would cheer a public lynching and take pictures as keepsakes.
